January Blues

Blue is one of my favourite colours for its versatility and broad range of shades. You can never really go wrong with a strong navy, deep turquoise or subtle pastel and a combination of all three might even work too.

I find that blue will compliment most other colours if used in the correct way- perhaps a splash of blue on your chairs or a blue throw on your bed. On my recent journeys around some beautiful homes I have collated together the best ways blue hues have been used.

Duck Egg and Turquoise

Team duck egg blue, turquoise and whites together for a crisp fresh look that will brighten a room and bring some depth to your interior space. Get the look for less:

  • Wool Head board – ‘Arran’ from The Head Board workshop
  • Ruffle duvet- ‘Flamenco duvet set’ from Look Again
  • Moon Pillow- French Grey Interiors from Not on the Highstreet
  • Rose Fairy lights- Argos Home
  • Duck Egg throw- Fable bedding from Bedeck

  • Cherub duck egg throw- Coast and Country Interiors
  • White cushions- Kylie at Home from Debenhams

For the bathroom why not try some duck egg blue towels. Orla Kiely has some fabulous prints in a range of blue hues. Perfect! This ‘Stem’ print is a must.

Add a splash of colour to your room by adding a feature piece of furniture. How about this gorgeous upholstered coffee table which adds focus to an otherwise neutral room. You’ll find a few ottoman upholstered coffee tables on Wayfair.

Teal is a really grown up colour and will add elegance and charm to a room. Here Teal has been used in the kitchen diner which I love. I like to call these rooms ‘hard’ rooms as there  are limited areas for soft furnishings but hear the space has been brought to live with colour and style. Get the look:

  • Teal chairs- Baker and Stonehouse
  • Feather Wallpaper- Wallpaper direct
  • White laquer table- Great furniture trading company

I love this gorgeous Scion print which comes in two colour ways and has a subtle hint of teal and turquoise combined! Get it from John Lewis or online at http://www.scion.uk.com
